Moo Deng (MOODENG), a Solana-based meme coin inspired by Thailand’s viral baby pygmy hippo, has witnessed a notable price surge of over 39%.
The rise came after Upbit, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced that it would list the meme coin.
Upbit Announces MOODENG Listing
According to the official announcement from Upbit, MOODENG trading will begin on July 3 at 17:00 Korean Standard Time (KST). The meme coin will be available for trading against three pairs: Korean Won (KRW), Bitcoin (BTC), and Tether (USDT). The contract address is ED5nyyWEzpPPiWimP8vYm7sD7TD3LAt3Q3gRTWHzPJBY.
“Please make sure to verify the network before depositing any digital assets. Deposits and withdrawals through networks other than the specified one will not be supported. After the deposit/withdrawal service starts, if a sufficient level of liquidity is not secured, the trading support start time may be delayed,” the announcement read.
This listing announcement propelled the token from around $0.166 to $0.231 within minutes, marking an increase of more than 39%. The price experienced a slight correction afterward.
Still, the spike contributed to an overall appreciation of 50.7% over the past day. This uptick has made MOODENG one of the top daily gainers on CoinGecko.
Meanwhile, the coin’s market capitalization rose sharply, climbing from approximately $165 million to over $200 million. The news also triggered substantial activity, as evidenced by the rise in volume.
According to CoinGecko data, the meme coin’s trading volume soared to $370.6 million in the last 24 hours, marking a remarkable 608.6% increase from the previous day.
Previously, MOODENG saw a triple-digit rally in May, fueled by Binance Alpha listing and Robinhood support. However, the coin trended downward from late May until positive momentum resurfaced in July, further amplified by Upbit’s announcement.
Upbit dominates the majority of crypto trading volume in South Korea’s active crypto market, where over 16 million people trade digital assets. Thus, the latest MOODENG addition enhances visibility and liquidity, attracting significant interest in the coin. In fact, MOODENG has become the top trending coin on CoinGecko.
Google Trends data also showed that search interest for “MOODENG COIN” peaked at 100 earlier today. This shows strong public interest in the token.
