Grok AI Hallucinates and Calls Kalshi Deal a Hoax

Kalshi, for its part, also confirmed the Grok partnership. Unfortunately, neither company explicitly stated what this Grok integration would entail.

Last month, X independently announced a partnership with Polymarket, the largest prediction market. This deal hasn’t gone live yet either, but it may provide some important clues for Kalshi’s future.

For example, Polymarket’s announcement claimed that Grok’s real-time data collection and analysis could help bring enhanced information to the site’s users. The AI protocol could presumably perform a similar role on Kalshi.

However, in a bizarre twist, the Polymarket deal has apparently confused Grok regarding its new relationship with Kalshi. Several recent hoaxes have alleged a false Grok partnership, so the AI protocol may be programmed to debunk future scams.

It derided the official xAI announcement as a hoax, claiming that Polymarket is Grok’s only partner in this sector.

It’s been almost three hours since xAI and Kalshi announced the Grok deal, and there’s no indication that this is a hoax. Apparently, Grok accused its own creators of a social media scam, considering its official announcement unreliable.

Between this and the recent MechaHitler incident, it’s clear that the platform has a lot of major kinks to work out. If the chatbot provides this sort of misinformation to gamblers, serious mishaps could happen.

If an AI hallucination leads a number Kalshi users to make the wrong bet, it might represent a real headache for the platform.

In any event, hallucinations like this may explain the delays in Polymarket’s xAI partnership. Kalshi, for its part, is not a publicly traded company, so we can’t use stock prices to measure investor hype around the Grok deal.

For now, we’ll just have to wait for further announcements to see what integration will look like.
